The transformer on the pole has a tap halfway along its winding. That tap is the neutral. From either leg to the neutral you get 120 volts, which runs the lights and nearly every outlet in the house. Across both legs you get 240 volts. That is what a range, a dryer and a car charger need, and it is why those breakers are twice as tall and take two slots. The meter is the dividing line. Everything past it is yours.

How this list is built

Every business here was found in Google local results across California. Then each one was checked against its own Google record. A listing only publishes when the record matches by id, not by name. That is what keeps one company from being confused with a company of the same name a county away.

Nobody pays to be on this list. Nobody pays to move up it. There is no tracking number in front of the real one. The phone number on a profile is the one the business publishes.

Every electrical contractor in California holds a C 10 license, and the record is public. Before you hire anyone, search the number they give you. Check that it matches the name on the contract.

We do not print license numbers on profiles. A number scraped from a listing and shown as fact is how a stale record turns into a claim about somebody. The board record is the live one.
